I trace both paths back to the same source, the
wellspring of creativity that is fed by our daily lives, our past experiences, and the
revelations we receive when we take time to observe the world.

FINDING THE LITERARY SPARK

Creativity is a Dialogue, not a Destination

Many believe creativity is a talent you either have or you don’t. I believe it is a skill
cultivated by obedience, observation, and trust.

For me, being creative is a constant dialogue. It is fueled by watching my four
beautiful children navigate the world, by reflecting on learned lessons, and by
allowing my faith to reveal deeper meaning within those experiences.

This internal dialogue is what allows me to write so diversely:
– In Literary Fiction: Past experiences translate into the emotional core of a
character, giving them depth and resilience.
– In Poetry: Raw, learned emotions are distilled into a concentrated form,
searching for universal unconditional love and truth.
– In Fantasy: The themes of integrity, unity, and hope that I champion in life are
magnified and tested against the grand canvas of a fictional kingdom.

Three Sources of My Creativity

If you are looking to cultivate your own creative passion, whether through writing, art,
or problem-solving. Here are the three main sources I rely on, which may inspire you
to look deeper into your own life:

The Everyday Revelation: The most powerful ideas rarely arrive during quiet,
scheduled writing time. They emerge when I am least expecting them, on a
walk, while reading a scripture, or during a seemingly mundane conversation.
These are the small moments when the spirit of creativity breaks through the
routine, offering a fresh perspective or an “unlikely connection” between
disparate ideas.

The Power of Memory: My writing is profoundly informed by my Zimbabwean
roots and my life in the UK. Instead of running from difficult memories or
learned experiences, I treat them as rich soil. The challenges faced and
overcome in the past provide the authenticity and emotional weight needed to
make fictional struggles, whether a sailor’s impossible mission or a
character’s emotional crisis, feel true and resonant.

The Unseen Audience: When I write, I write to encourage. The constant
drive to craft a narrative that shows the rewards of perseverance and never
giving up provides powerful direction. This outward focus, writing with a
purpose of impact, acts as an anchor, ensuring every genre I touch carries
my signature message.

Creativity is not limited to drawing a picture or writing a book but it it shapes how we see the world and respond to it. It allows us to approach challenges with a fresh perspective, turning obstacles into opportunities for growth. When we embrace creativity, we invite innovation, resilience, and hope into our everyday lives. It becomes a guiding force that helps us adapt, express ourselves, and find meaning even in difficult moments. Ultimately, creativity is what adds colour to our experiences, making life not only manageable but vibrant, dynamic, and deeply fulfilling in ways we often overlook. It encourages curiosity, fuels imagination, and strengthens problem-solving skills. By nurturing creativity, we unlock new possibilities, build confidence in our ideas, and create space for continuous personal and meaningful transformation.

Keep drawing from your own personal wellspring.
